Adam, The first issue is that you can't open the deck jets valve "half" way.. It will be full on or full off.. You can manually adjust the valve so that it stops at half way, but then it will always stop at half way. Second possible issue.. Have you used the deck jets yet? Do you know that...

Mike, If you open the check valve, the pump can not be running... If you open it when the spa water is low, I would expect some water to flow out, but it really depends on your plumbing.. Just take it out, clean it up and stick it back in. Make sure it goes back in the same direction it came...
