**The Quote(s) Stage of Building My Fiberglass Pool**

Hey all,

Long time, no see. Last conversed with this fine community back in Summer of 2020. Long story short, we sold our house with the pool during Covid, and fast-forward four years later, and I am now in the process of selecting a builder to install a Latham Olympia 16 (16x35) fiberglass pool.

Below are the specs that (1) builder quoted me at. Currently awaiting two other quotes.

Builder # 1:
Pool = Latham Olympia 16 (16x35)

Pump = Hayward Tristar VS 900
*I'm inclined to ask him to upgrade to the Hayward TriStar VS 900 Omni, since I want the wifi option.

Filter = He states, "Sand or Cartridge," I'll gladly take anyone's advice here. I retrofitted my last pool (Hayward Pro-Series S244T w/ BrightLine Glass Media)

Sanitation = He states, "Mineral Sanitation." He's recommending I steer away from Salt, but it's a must. In our last pool, we had an Aquarite 900 + T15 Salt Cell. He says that the salt system is an extra $2,900. I see an AquaRite 900 System currently goes for about $1,900. He’s indicating the $2,900 includes the standard AquaRite 900 System + the plumbing labor/material.
I assume I should swing for the fences and go for the AquaRite S3 Omni System?

Lighting = He says, "3 LED Hayward Lights." No way he's referring to ColorLogic bulbs, right? I assume he means the 12v ColorLogic lights?

Cover = Coverstar Safety Cover (Made by Latham)

Heater = He said, "Hayward 150 or 250." I assume he's referring to the Hayward H-Series 250?
*My last pool had a Hayward HeatPro 110k BTU. Am I correct in my thinking that regardless of pool size, the higher BTU will simply heat the pool quicker? Also, how does the H-Series compare to the HeatPro?

Price includes all stone, soil removal, and water.

Price includes electrical up to 50' from pool.

Lifetime warranty on pool, 3-5 year warranty on all equipment.

Plumbing is 2”.

Total Price = $60,000

Filter = Cartridge
Heater - your first was a heat pump. The one quoted is gas. Get a 400k BTU it will heat faster and should not cost much more.
SKIP SKIP SKIP the mineral system.
Saltwater is a must of course.

For price, since it is so dependent on local economies, you really should just get multiple quotes and compare what you are getting.

Does the price include the pool deck? Safety fence around the pool? Gas line? Gas lines can be in the thousands and may require a meter upgrade.

Make sure all equipment is itemized including model # on your final quote. 1 or 2 skimmers? Bottom drain? How many returns? Any water features? Diving board?

How about your permitting process? Starting right now, it is not likely you will be swimming this season. Has he addressed that?

In my area a basic install with no heater, no cover, no lights, and 4 feet of concrete decking would cost you about 60k. I agree it all varies by local economy and competition. We only have two installers of fiberglass pools in my area.

Moved from HERE

Sorry to bring an old thread back up; I’m confused. Which of the three systems are the latest/greatest?

OmniLogic
OmniPL
Aquarite S3 Omni

I will only need the system to remotely control:
Tristan VS 900 Pump
Salt System
Heater (HDF400)
ColorLogic Lights (12v)

Price includes 4’ of concrete decking. 2 skimmers, 4 returns. No bottom drain on FG pool. They take care of permits. Says we can be swimming by end of August.

OmniPL with the cell included is what you need for a new build. It has a load center for all your electrical wiring.

This sounds pretty good. My quote back in 2017 was $65k for a similar build list but with gunite.

I would specify that the skimmers are each home-runned back to the equipment pad (they probably already are). For the 4 returns at least 2 homeruns for that. My build started in May/June and we were done the end of August. So it's possible.

Also get a price per square foot for extra concrete. 4 feet is nothing you will probably want at least one of the ends to have 2x-3x that for deck space.

Is the OmniPL overkill for my application? I believe the OmniPL is approx (8) connections for various devices (waterfalls, etc.) AquaRite S3 is (4), which would be enough for my setup.
OmniPL gives you the Load Center as your pool subpanel for all the electrical wiring. It simplifies the electrical installation.

If you get the AquariteS3 then you need to pay an electrician for the subpanel separately.

I would oversize if possible. I doubled up my swg and filter and they have crushed pollen season so far. We have a 15k gallon pool with a 340sq foot filter, My only lament is that I thought I was upbuilding my pump, but realized after the fact that the default was probably undersized. I have a 1.65 vsp and it’s honestly fine. You can’t hear it at it’s running speed. I just wish I had gone 3 hp for even less noise and more energy efficiency.

Despite the pool being 15k-20k gallons, should I still go oversized?
IMO your yard determines your filter need, not the pool size.

Gallons is mostly depth related, when surface area of the hole in the ground sucking up yard crud is a much bigger factor.

Put a tiny pool under 2 oak trees ? You'll need a giant filter for 5k gallons. :ROFLMAO:
