My wife wants me to open the pool early so she has something nice to look at while sitting on the pool deck. Usually I open end of April (based on water temp). Thinking of doing it next weekend. I think the freezing temps are over and even if not, it will barely get to 32. Freeze protect will handle it. No heater just open the pool and get the water circulating for aesthetics.

Open or no?

Sure. You get to clean all the April seeds and pollen out of the pool while she looks at her nice, clean pool.

Four more weeks of pool maintenance for a happy wife is a small price.

My pool opens April 15th.

Bitter sweet day to be sure!

I'm been watching my grass slowly get more green all week. It's time, even if we get some more light freezes.

We always open early. It looks much better open and sparkling than half drained and covered. We opened March 15th and I mowed for the first time Wednesday (26th)

There’s no turning back now!!

+1. I put mine obnoxiously front and center 33ft from all the back windows and its as wide as the house. Whether it's open or closed its all up in my face for every meal, washing every dish, letting the dogs out every time......

Already looking better after 3 gallons of 10%. About to add 3 more gallons. Visibility has gone from 1 foot to 4 feet.

Water temp is 52. SWCG cuts off at 51. Wondering if I should turn it on or not. Thoughts?

I leave the SWG ON and whenever it wants to generate it will. I monitor how much additional LC is needed until the SWG is reliable.

I am a fan of using PQ60 as an insurance policy.

Last 2 closings I did not use it (increased chlorine instead) and both years opened to this swamp. I have never had a swamp or even a spec of algae when using Polyquat. So 100% I'll be using it from now on when I close.

That why I call PQ60 an insurance policy. You don’t have incidents every year needing insurance claims but you buy the policy every year.

Question: My salt reading is 2700, water temp is 55 degrees. As my water temp increases, will my salt reading decrease? Trying to determine if I should add salt now or wait. I added way too much salt last year (3800) and don't want to repeat that.

Just the SWG's internal reading. I will check with the K-1766 once the water clears.
SWG reading is temperature compensated and can drift around with temperature changes.

I would only adjust based on K-1766 test.

Getting better! It is holding chlorine too. Tested at 2. Didn't take any other readings except pH so I know it means little. I'll run a full battery tomorrow.

pH is off the charts though! Gotta go get some acid dude.......
