Aiper Scuba S1 Review

Well my S1 finally quit yesterday. I took it out of the water and plugged it in. Blue light went on for a second, then went out. I had to use my M500 to clean the pool today. I forgot what a pain a corded cleaner is.

Reached out to Aiper, they made me do the standard try this and that type stuff. Did it, no change. Let’s see what they come back with.

They sent me a FedEx return label and the S1 is on it way back to them. Hope it comes back soon.

Running a corded cleaner seems like such a chore now.

On another note, Aiper just released a new super duper model. It’s hard to tell, but it might actually clean steps.

I am surprised they did not cross ship the cleaners. My scuba just hit 6 months, I use it ~ 3 times a week and it is still going strong.

Wow just saw the video on the Scuba X1 Pro Max. Does surface and bottom 5 hours bottom, 10 hours surface (I assume either / or not both). They have a few videos from CES on youtube.

It’s unlikely that I am going to buy the X1 Pro. I like my S1 because it’s cheap and disposable. My guess is the X1 Pro is going to be quite pricey.

These new battery powered robots are too new and we dont know what their lifespan is. I am not ready to invest $2K in something that might only last a couple of years.

Quite pricey indeed - MSRP: $2299!

However, it checks a lot of the boxes that made me shy away from battery-operated robots: ultra-fine filters, large basket, high suction, intelligent routing, surface skimming, 5-hour floor-cleaning battery life and wireless charging. Available starting mid-February.

Did they fix under warranty or was it on you? BTW-I just got a Scuba Pro a couple months ago so haven’t really gotten to use it yet. Anxiously awaiting Spring to try it out. My purchase decision was partly due to your thread here and all the other pool robot threads on TFP-SO THANK YOU!

Exactly. If Aiper/Wybot want to move upmarket, their product development plan needs to seriously incorporate serviceability and parts availability.

The unit is 7 month old so it was repaired under warranty. Their process is not bad. Send an email with the problem, 24 hours later they get you to try things that dont work. Reply that their ideas dont work. 24 hours later they send you a FedEx label to send it back.

Just a reminder. Keep your box.

I actually anticipate that for its 2 year warranty life it will most likely require 2 more repairs.

I found some info on the Aiper website. Flashing red light means either the rotor is stuck or the motor is flooded. I have emailed customer service. Website says it must be repaired or replaced.

So what does it mean when I plug the charger in and I get a solid red light briefly, then 1 quick red blink, and then nothing? Isn't charging for sure. Holding down the power does nothing, no lights will come on at all, except for the couple of initial red lights when I plug it in.

So, they actually repaired the one you sent it, and sent it back? or did you get a referb?

I believe they repaired mine and sent it back. I think they just replaced the battery.

On mine, I told them it still worked and I couldn't do without it while they repaired/sent a new one so they sent the new one out (no credit card needed!). I sent the old one back after I used the new one just in case!

BTW, pool was a mess after 18 Days of Christmas travel. Took about 5 cycles but it met the "white glove test" after that. All I had to do is sweep the ledges off before I started. I'm very impressed with this and like Kato I'm not doing higher $ versions 'till we get a couple years experience.

I researched, kicked tires, considered going corded and even floating corded…pulled plug this weekend on the S1. (Actually the N1 because extra rollers seem more useful than goggles). I lost 2 seagulls (1in warranty) to corrosion on the charge posts. Both units totally worked but became useless over such a simple issue. I intend to keep canned air next to this unit, but there are so many inexpensive & superior options for the design, it’s a silly problem. I’m not hearing y’all having posts fall out so hopefully they strengthened the new model. IMO unless you go with cords or jump way up in price Aiper is the best reasonable cost robot with demonstrated customer support. There are a couple more out there that “might” move ahead but I cannot find users yet. So Aiper effort to be dominate might be working. This is a great weekend to buy because they are layering discounts to move the units and you can get the S1 below $500. 2 year warranty is a decent annual cost. Thanks for all who have added to this thread, y’all make TFP GREAT!

Thanks for update. Keep us posted on the performance. My Aiper S1 has been working well for nearly a year.

Thinking of taking a chance on a refurbished s1 on Amazon. It comes with full 1yr warranty from AIPER. Thoughts? Is this unit worth getting for less than $500? I have a corded robot that works ok, but wouldn't mind cordless convenience.

I love my Seagull Pro ($529 at Aiper). S1 is $559 new. Not sure which is the better deal. I'm on 3rd season, so far all good.

@suzook Going thru the website you can get new sometimes for $519, then wait for discount codes to populate. This gives you a 2 year warranty. Probably best to have a longer warranty versus saving $20.
