I would not buy this without a 2 year warranty. I would also buy it with a credit card that extends your warranty.
In some ways I think a refurbished unit might be better.Thinking of taking a chance on a refurbished s1 on Amazon. It comes with full 1yr warranty from AIPER. Thoughts? Is this unit worth getting for less than $500? I have a corded robot that works ok, but wouldn't mind cordless convenience.
I often wrestle with this because I know darn well 99% of the 1st run XYZs were not scrutinized, but the refurbs were likely fully bench tested to insure they wouldn't come back.In some ways I think a refurbished unit might be better.
I do feel that the S1/N1 might be improved from water intrusion. In my case I had 2 Seagulls where the charge post corrosion caused failure. I just today received the N1 and the cap on the charge entry seals better than my seagulls ever did. The model is more mature than my seagulls. And the S1 and N1 seem to have same features, so I assume they were designed for different channels.Well I can get seagull pro new from aiper for $487 all in shipped. I am thinking its a no brainer, although my wife is flipping. We still need to pay for the sod, the fence, the reel and solar cover....LOL. I probably should wait. I have a corded robot that works fine.
My wife is gonna hunt you down!!!!!!!!! LOL.This should help you order the S1/N1 with 2 year warranty
I had some similar concerns I have a 32' infinity wall that drops 3' to a likely fatal collision with the basin wall. It tries to clean the top 6" like it was looking for a water line on the wall to scrub but never went over and it's now been running at least 4 months. So you should be good! If you're wife goes hunting please tell her this was @Newdude !I am not expecting/hoping it doesn't climb my steps onto my sun shelf. Anyone have this issue? I am about to order one, and probably get divorced. LOL
This would be a good head to head review since both are used in the same pool. keep us posted on the outcome. Thanks.I purchased both the Seagull Pro and the Scuba N1 last week after researching and reading this full thread. Why the two?
They both arrived last night. Which means that I've been enjoying cycling the Seagull and the Scuba in and out of my pool since this morning. First impressions are that they both did a solid job in floor mode. Seagull Pro is easier to clean because the basket lid nicely detaches so spraying it out with the hose is a snap. I appreciate the advice here to not watch the robots - just get them when they're done and survey the results. Watching either of them figure out the rounded steps on one end of my pool is an exercise in frustration, so I walked away and sure enough, they were in different areas of the pool when I checked back later.
- Scuba N1: Bought at Costco for $499 because their return policy means I'm confident in returning at any time if needed.
- Seagull Pro: Bought at Home Depot for $399 with free shipping. At that price, I had to try it. 90 day return window if I don't keep it.
My plan is to use both for a week or two and then decide which one I'm keeping. The reviews in here and other sites make it hard to directly compare the two, so happy to try if people have specific questions.
Aiper posted on their facebook yesterday that there's a recall on the Seagull Pro due to fire risk from the battery. They are replacing them with the Scuba S1. There was a content creator on youtube that had a pretty bad house fire from his Seagull Pro. I just wanted you to be aware! The model number is ZT6001.I purchased both the Seagull Pro and the Scuba N1 last week after researching and reading this full thread. Why the two?

Can you elaborate on what was changed between the previous S1 Pro and the 2025 S1 Pro for filter design? I just started learning about the Aiper offerings last week. I read through this thread last week but don't recall anything about the filter design mentioned for the Pro.Aiper posted on their facebook yesterday that there's a recall on the Seagull Pro due to fire risk from the battery. I'm curious to hear your thoughts on the N1. I just pre-ordered the N1 Plus, but I just saw they updated the S1 Pro for 2025. It hasn't been officially announced, but you can see it in their Amazon store. It looks like they fixed the filter design.
I would agree that the current model would meet your needs and if that is discounted with the 2025 model coming out then all the better.Hi all. I am considering the S1 to replace my corded robot. It looks like Aiper has a new 2025 version of the S1 and as far as i can tell it will include an ultra fine filter insert, 30 more minutes of runtime, and app "controllability". I guess here's what I'm wondering - if the new model is say 30% more expensive for those features, I'm not sure it's worth it. Thoughts? My pool is on the smaller side so while better battery life is always welcome on any rechargeable device, I don't think that would be such a big deal for me. As well, my current Polaris robot has 'only' a fine to medium grade filter and that appears to do the job in my pool. One thing that I can't find an answer to is whether the 2025 model would linger at the water line for removal once a cycle is complete. That would for sure be a nice to have feature. But based on reading my way through this thread, notwithstanding some issues people had, the consensus seems to be that for the money, the S1 is a nice little robot cleaner for the price. I would want to buy it close to the opening of our pool, for warranty/return purposes, but right now, directly from Aiper Canada, it's selling for $705 plus tax. So not bad and still way cheaper than my Polaris that is about 7 years old now. Thanks for any feedback.
