trying to wire up a new aquapure and I'm not sure where blk/load 1 and blk/yel /load 2 go. builder ran power from breaker in aqualink to epump, with control of pump thru rs485 cable. if I go to L1 & L2 on pump for power for aquapure then aquapure is powered up always. do i rewire pump to a relay? thanks jim

The Aqualink box should have a Filter/pump relay that is used when the pump is on. You have to wire power to it on the Line side, and then run the power to the Aquapure from the Load side.

When the automation calls on the pump to run, the relay closes and sends power to the SWCG.

I'm familiar with pentair relay wiring but this is different. power comes right from the breaker to pump, pump has power at all times put not switched on. i just checked and it has power at all times. pump model #vsshp270aut do i rewire like a pentair-using a relay or can a jandy expert help me? I not saying that you can't help just looking for help from more than one thanks jim

The same is true in a Pentair automation for a VS pump. My VS pump is direct wired to the CB. But I have power to the Filter / Pump relay for the SWCG.

@ajw22 or @PoolGate can assist.

top left relay is not being used, power for pump comes from breaker to pump. I know it should go - breaker-relay-pump but pb didn't wire it that way. what's crazy is that it a 5 yr old pool built by a VERY VERY large southern calif. pb I will take photos tonight and post them.. I may just wire it the proper way, but I thought that someone had seen a aquapure wired into the pump so that I didn't have to rewire. It also has the power for the heater coming off of the pump wiring at THE pump not the breaker. I just wish more builders would take pride in their workmanship. jim

Yours is probably correct.

A variable speed pump should get power continuously, not through a relay.

The heater should also get continuous power.

My point is that the top left relay is permanently designated as the “Filter Pump” relay and it should close whenever the pump is on even if the pump is not connected to the relay.

So, you wire the SWG to the load side of the “Filter Pump” relay.

You can power the relay from the pump breaker or a different breaker.

I have built 3 pools and acted as the gc on them and when I bought this house it already had a pool so I was stuck with all of the poor workmanship. spa isn't deep enough, only reaches midway to my chest and has no air blower for jets. brought in my pool plumber to see about the jet problem , only fix is to cut concrete, break open spa and redo plumbing. Guess i will live with it.
