It's a 6 or 7 year old pool, so where would copper come from. I assume copper mostly an older pool problem.
Also noticed its often o thr south side so mostly in the shade. I think mold.
Is it safe to swim, and how do you get rid of it?

You're going to have to try to scrape some off. If it's black algae, it will be like black mold.
If nothing scrapes off, it's probably copper.
Try putting some vitamin C on a few spots to see if there's any reaction.
The turquoise color is common with copper staining. It can often go unnoticed because it's uniform and blends in with the color of the water.
You will typically get a lot of turquoise and the black happens when the copper changes oxidation state again.
Copper can come from algaecide, a heater or an ionizer.

All the Clorox Xtrablue products contain copper, but its not readily apparent when buying. Bad stuff! Bad!
