What do you use to clean your spa filter?

We deep clean ours every 3 weeks or so (it's in an airbnb) and used to use inexpensive TSP, but now they've stopped making it. I see Amazon has a Leisure Time filter cleaner but at $18 a pop, it's a bit pricey!

Just don't get the "TSP-PF"
How can TriSodium Phosphate be phosphate free?

I see that! And Ace too. The clerk at Lowes said they stopped making it (environmental reasons). Either he was wrong or they are allowed to use up their stock. In which case, any other suggestions? Thank you.

At my home I just rinse my filter periodically & to deep clean it I just throw it in when i do my maintenance purge of the tub with Ahhsome.
I understand This may not be enough for a rental unit.
Ahhsome does sell a filter cleaner. I haven’t used it but I suspect it’s just as effective as their purge product.
Alternatively you can soak it in a mix of powdered dishwasher detergent like cascade/great value (not dish soap) and a little oxi clean if its dingy then rinse it extremely well.
For a rental I would suggest having a spare filter so you can swap out quickly and soak/clean the other at your leisure.

Thank you. We do have 3 filters that we rotate because when we deep clean one, we take it home with us and soak it for 24 hours

This is great news. I soak with the ahhsome filter cleaner once a month but for some reason, even though it's not hard, it's one of my most loathed maintenance tasks. Thanks for helping me be lazy!

I use OxyClean, which is mostly sodium percarbonate. My two filters stack in a 5 gallon bucket. I add OxyClean to the bucket, the two filters, fill it with warm water, and stick the lid on it. The next day I rinse them out, let them and the bucket dry, and then I store them for the next time in the same bucket with the lid on.
