I have a 400 gallon Master Spa and the factory setting is to run the circulation pump four hours per day. Is that enough? I’m normally the only user and don’t even use it every day.

As a rule of thumb, run the pump as long and with the lowest RPM that gets the job done (skimming, chlorine production etc). Most agree that the notion that water needs to be turned over x times per day is a myth.

Same rules apply. When I had a stand alone spa many years ago, I ran it only about 30 min per day when not using it.
The main driver of runtime for a stand alone is the method of sanitization. As long as there is enough sanitizer in the water and it is well mixed, that is all that matters. Everything else is cosmetic (i.e. debris removal).
