I recently began noticing what appears to be water or some kind of staining on my fiberglass pool shell. The pool is two years old. Any ideas what is causing this issue?
Thanks

Would the pool math logs be good enough?
Hard to tell. If you have nothing else it might help. Most pool manufactures are still stuck in the dark ages and like to see pool store testing. Even with all its flaws, it's generally their first request. But I've never seen unusual wavy patterns like yours, so perhaps they will look at your situation a bit differently.

Thanks for the replies, but it definitely is not a gel coat issue. It appears to me that water is soaking in from behind the shell and saturating the fiberglass. Is that possible? As for the manufacturer (Leisure Pools) , I went through quite a battle with them already over a horrid install. I have zero faith they would back up their product. Here is another picture of the deep end and a dark pattern is definitely noticeable

^^^ What he said.
Ok, looks like I am in a bind. Installer and I almost went to court over his multiple mistakes, I would have to hire an attorney. Manufacturer was less than honorable through the whole install, so thinking they will probably blow me off again. Ugh!

At any rate, has anyone ever had water seep in from the backside of the fiberglass shell?

If it was seeping in through the backside of the shell wouldn’t it also seep out from inside the pool? We have a pretty high water table ourselves but it’s hard to me imagine that water would seep through the fiberglass either way.

Is it possible that it’s some type of metal staining?

I am not sure if water from the backside is partially through the shell or what is going on. All I know is the discoloration only recently appeared and it is not on the inner/finished side of the pool, so that makes me believe it is water from the back. I have been very meticulous with my water quality management, so I am having a hard time believing the issue is from my neglect.

I wasn’t trying to imply that the source was any type of neglect. I guess I just don’t understand when you say the discoloration isn’t on the inner/finished side of the pool. I thought based on the pictures that it was on the inside of the pool on the gel coat.
