I got quote for TRUCLEAR REPLACEMENT CELL $750. Appreciate if the price is decent and anything I need to ask installers so that no surprise. It is 7 year old pool. Do I expect replacement once in 7 years? The folater is placed in the pool as the reading did not come right.

If you got a TruClear to last 7 years that is spectacular. We have members that have lost them in 2 seasons. The cell itself is $430 so you are being charged $300+ for labor.

Ask if they are just replacing just the cell or the entire housing the cell is in. If just the cell, which I suspect, that is just unplugging the old one and plugging in the new one. Like a 5 minute job. Maybe 10 if they are going to make the wire nice and pretty.

I buy from this place.

Appreciate the reply. I was told just cell itself and also part price itself $740. Glad to know the link. This the part I got quote for and seems it is exactly same.

I will order from website.

Are you sure it doesn't include that already? I think it does.
Probably it comes with it. The website recommended while adding to cart and I got confused.

I went to Pinch a Penny. I was recommended another option. He said I get 3 year warranty if whole system including saltwater panel replaced. The advantage is I can monitor through aqualink app and also in Spa mode it will put less chlorine and good for the skin. But there is no promotion now and I could get for around $1300 for whole system if I wait.

Rightnow Pool has floater and they put tablets every week. Is it ok to use this for some time until I could get deal?Let me know if replacing system is worth. Appreciate it.

$1300 is how much the TruClear costs for the complete system. The controller and the cell. He is suggesting to replace it with an entire new system.

I think your existing system should be able to be controlled by Aqualink. Have you tried connecting it?

Here is the manual: https://cdn.fluidrausa.com/-/media/...3500.pdf?rev=43b499c64cc34871bc86e185d48f8e4d

FYI: Using chlorine tablets can cause CYA levels to increase beyond functional levels. Occasional use is fine though. Do you do your own testing?

It is now around $1500 and with discount I was told to get around $1300 that includes cell and controller. I have service now with Pinch a Penny who checks every week.

I talked to same person who installed aqualink controller with variable speed pump around 6 months back and he tried accessing through app and told me that it is not setup I guess with hardware itself for Trueclear. He said he need to do some DP conneciton or something to get it to wifi.

I did not know anything about CYA before. Now I am thinking if I need to decide quickly to get it installed.

Look under your TruClear control box and see if you have the connections for Aqualink. Take a pic and post it. All it requires is a 4-wire cable between the two. I installed one of those like 5 years ago and that one had the Aqualink connections.

I circled the Aqualink connection point in the attached pic. Do you have that connection?

You are good for awhile without it running but test your FC daily and adjust as needed. Do you test yourself?

sorry. What is meant by test FC daily and adjust as needed? I never tested anything. I am dependent on once a week service.

Ah ok - yeah you don't have it. If you buy a newer controller, you'll get Aqualink control and also pool/spa fine control. If you are going to do this, consider getting their AquaPure 1400 system instead. TruClear is "entry level" while the AquaPure is the gold standard. It will be twice as much, however.

FYI: TFP methods depend on owner testing. Pool store and pool service testing is frequently unreliable (and wrong). They also don't usually have a grasp on proper pool care. Often that leads to unsanitary, algae filled pools. I suggest you get the TF-100 (below) and test your water on a regular basis. At least then you will know where you stand. You could then direct your pool service to maintain TFP chemical levels.

Thanks. What is the difference features wise Trueclear vs Aquapure 1400? The pool/spa fine control means, I am assuming less chlorine levels can be set to spa.

The TruClear is rated for .93lbs/day and the AP1400 is rated for 1.25lbs/day. This means you can use it less. It also is just a more beefy unit. The cell itself is robust. I have worked with both. Everything about the AP is more money, however, including cell replacement.

Aqualink has a pool and spa SWG mode. When you put it in spa mode, you can set the chlorine percent output to a lower amount so your small spa volume doesn't get over-chlorinated when using the spa. In practice with a spillover I am not actually sure how effective that ends up being. You mentioned it above though which is why I bring it up.
