Told not to water gunite?

Hey! so we did the gunite yesterday--very exciting! But, after everyone left, I realized I wasnt told to water it at all. I shot the builder an email and they replied this morning saying they never heard of such a thing and I didnt need to do it...mind you I do live in south florida, so it's quite humid, but everything I'm seeing on here (and online as a whole) says it's a very important step.... should I do it anyway? Question the builder further? Or just drop it and be thankful I dont have to do the work?

Thabks for the advice

Water it! 1-2x per day. It might not but there is a chance of cracking if it cools/hardens too quickly. It won't hurt. If it rains you can skip watering.

Water it. The wetter it stays while curing the stronger it will be, and moist curing also greatly reduces the risk of shrinkage cracks.

FWIW when this chart refers to "moist curing", it means either submerged in a tank of water and lime, or held in a chamber with misters running constantly keeping the relative humidity in the 90-100% range. Those conditions (as well as a few others) are the ASTM standard for curing samples of concrete to be tested for strength.

What if it rains (which is does daily in many parts of FL)? Also builder said he didn't "need" to water it, not to not water it.

Agreed.

It does typically rain daily here this time of year, but it hasnt rained in a few days and isnt supposed to for another day or 2....if it rains it's fine, so I would assume watering it wouldnt void any sort of warranty, but they will be here installing the rest of the plumbing the next couple days, so they would definitely know I was doing it against their instructions

You are going to own the pool for a lot longer than the PB will warranty it for. Any problems with the gunite are unlikely to be found during the PBs warranty period and he knows that. Do what you think is right with your property.
