I opened my pool late and my winter cover gave it up so I opened the pool with known possible issues, it was cloudy when I fished the cover out of it!
I'm getting a faint chlorine smell which I assume is CC but the FAS test is showing 0 CC. I've only smelt the smell from my pool but much stronger years ago when I was battling something that was eating up CYA and chlorine at a huge rate.
I was going to slam but decided to do an OCLT the fist night and it used 1.5 PPM chlorine (started with 21.5 PPM and ended with 20 PPM) which I thought wasn't bad but was not the SLAM level. The pool's cloudiness did improved greatly yesterday so I thought I'd do another OCLT last night and it used 2.5 PPM - WRONG WAY
(started at 20.5 and ended at 18). I know it is not at SLAM level chlorine but there was a great improvement and seemed not to use a lot of chlorine during the day, in full sun and 3/4 gallon 10% LC brought the level to that 20.5. It will be at SLAM level today, just added 1 gallon of 10% LC.
My question is without CC can I get that smell? If not, any thoughts?
Thanks!
