We are in So Cal and our pool equipment is on the south side of our house and gets baked in the sun. So yesterday we put up a shade structure for it. Do you have any critiques or suggestions for it?

Nice job 👍

From a purely mechanical standpoint, a simple box structure like that is not mechanically rigid. Wind and strain will cause it to collapse.

If you use Wye type fittings, like these -

at the corners, you can create some cross-members that will make the structure more rigid.

Nice!

Suggest you get a coat of paint on all your PVC plumbing and the shade structure PVC as well. Either spray paint in a can or brushed on exterior house paint will work.
As Matt suggested, cross bracing on the shade structure will help it stay upright when the winds inevitably blow.

With the wind you get in Indio, you may wish to consider lowering the overall height of the structure as well.
It doesn't need to be stand-up height - maybe lower it to just above the electrical boxes, below the antenna.
Equipment can be thru the front flap.

Be careful to maintain adequate air intake around the heater.

Thanks! Does the paint help because of the heat baking on the pipes? Is a high temp spray paint best to use?

The heat and UV will cause the PVC to get sunburned brown on the surface and can make the pipe brittle.
High temp spray paint is unneccesary. A good washing and a few cans of Krylon or similar will work. My neighbors brushed on some left over exterior house paint and it's holding up well. Just clean and repaint when necessary.
It's more about protecting thr PVC from the UV of the sun - most any exterior paint will work.
