I want a quick general estimate on cost of replacing all inground plumbing from pump to pool. Deck is concrete. One skimmer, two return jets. See photo. No way to side access the plumbing, need to come from the top. Any ideas on total cost?
Please don't respond with, "you need to call a pool repair company." It's not my house but I might be interested in buying this property depending on the cost for this repair. Owner says all inground pipes are crumbled. The current plumbing is all above ground.

Welcome to TFP!

I’d say you have 4 steps:

Cut up and remove old decking.

Dig down to pipes.

Replace plumbing

Pour new deck

First and last are the big ones, and if you can get a price for those you’ll be close. First three are pretty reasonable DIY if you are motivated.

Hi JohnT, thanks for the welcome and reply. Is there a DIY method for locating the pipes to know where to cut and dig?

Not one that doesn’t take some digging. They generally stay close the pool as long as possible to minimize trenching. I wouldn’t even bother looking for them. Take the shortest route off the deck to put new plumbing in. If you are handy, you might be able to cut a slot in the deck big enough to dig down to the fittings, run your new plumbing, backfill, and put tile or pavers across the slot and not have it look bad.

Before you dig, a call to a leak detection service with a camera might be worth your time. If all of the plumbing damage is nearer to the equipment, your job might be easier.

2" Schedule 40 PVC pipe is $2.19/foot at Home Depot.

90 degree elbows are $2/each.

Then you have other valves and fittings and such.

Figure out the approximate lengths and add 25%.

For a contractor to do the work figure 2X - 3X the material cost.

Then for the concrete deck check...

That pool deck estimate link is out of line by about 1.5-2x the BEST column. FYI.

I am going to guess at $9K to $12K. You need to break up concrete, dig new trenches, re-pipe, pressure test, hook up and confirm operation and then repair pool deck. Feels like getting someone to show up for less than that will be a huge challenge. ( I hope I am wrong, but it feels like pool projects begin at $5K and go up in increments of $5K...
