I have a one year old Mastertemp 400. It was working fine until last night when my wife went to heat the spa and the heater wouldn't work. It showed Err SFS and E06. I cut power off via the breaker hoping to reset the logic, but it still showed the errors. So, I turned power off via the breaker and we gave up for the night.

Today I turned the breaker on hoping the logic would be reset in some manner, but no. The control panel still shows both error codes and the heater is totally inop, blower doesn't even come on. Also, the control panel buttons are disabled. I have dug into the owners manual and am aware of the "stack flu sensor" problem and have read other similar threads on this site. This thread seems similar to my issue: Pentair Mastertemp 400 SFS Error - Heater Won't Fire Up

Can it only be the SFS if I also have the E06 code? If so, I will order the new sensor and install.
Any advice appreciated
Thanks
Jim

With the 6 button connected heater model you go to MENU - SFS TEMP to display the exhaust temp.

An E06 is a shorted sensor.

Disconnect the sensor and check continuity across its terminals.

E06 means that the board is getting a reading of 0 ohms from the sensor.

Check the resistance; if it's 0, you have a bad sensor.

If it's high, you probably have a bad board.

Resistance should be 3.5-4.0 megaohms.

Pentair will admit, if pressed, that they have had a batch of bad stack-flue sensors. Its an easy repair, a 1/2" wrench after the cabinet is opened.
I've had good success with these aftermarket ones:

Or you can go OEM:

Correction 3.48 megaohms...so I guess I have a bad board..

I already ordered a new sensor because I have family coming in for the weekend and was hoping that would be a quick fix.

Did you try "Pool On" and "Spa On"?
Ok, so you all are not going to believe this. After taking the stack flue sensor out (btw, 1/2 wrench no good, mine was metric 13mm 🤷‍♂️) and testing resistance, I decided to give it a shot and connect the sensor to the wiring and not put it back in the flue. The heater started right up...

So, I turned it off and reinstalled the sensor in the flue. Heater has been running for 10 mins...

I think a freaktron got into the electrical board. I live in SC, so lots of lightning the last week with the hurricane remnants going through, dunno. I still have a new sensor being delivered tomorrow if that is the problem.
