Overflow spigot leaking

Hey guys, the spigot that is attached to my plumbing that I use to drain the pool when it gets too full isn't closing fully anymore so its leaking.

Does anyone know if this is a standard size for threads or do I need to take it off and take it to the store? Should I just replace the spigot or should I get a pool guy in here to replace the plastic fitting that I assume is glued in.

Thanks!

Tim

First, try tightening the top nut under the handle. Open fully and allow water run through it. If it still leaks you can find a replacement at the hardware store. It should be threaded and you should be able to remove with with channel locks. It's brass, so it shouldn't be glued. When you reinstall the new one, apply Pipe Joint Compound on the threads and twist back on.

I went to Ace Hardware and picked up a new bib and some pipe thread compound. They didn't have anything called thread joint compound but the guy said its the same thing. I put everything together, but there is no drying time on the container. Do you know how long I should wait to turn the pump on again? I appreciate your help!

I just had to do that with mine... PB put a plastic valve on... didn't even last a full year. I replaced it with a "boiler valve" that is a brass ball valve... probably be good for 10 years plus....
