Official 2017 BBQ, Smoking, Grilling, Baking and Beer thread

Re: Official 2017 BBQ, Smoking, Grilling, Baking and Beer thread

New Belgium has a nice little summer pack out - Fat Tire Amber Ale, 8-Hop Voodoo Ranger IPA, Citradelic Exotic Lime IPA and Juicy Watermelon Watermelon-Lime Ale.

The last two are ok and, believe it or not, the watermelon one isn't all that bad for a "fruity" beer. I like New Belgiums standard Citradelic IPA which is based on orange citrus but the lime one is good too. Finally, the first two are very good - their standard amber ale (available all year round) is quite good and the 8-Hop Voodoo Ranger IPA is an excellent IPA if you like the sharp, bitter taste of hops in your beer. I've grown more accustomed to IPAs as of late but there are definitely "good" IPAs and really, really, terrible IPAs in my opinion. The Voodoo Ranger is a good one.

Madras lentils & beans over brown rice & quinoa with steamed veggie medley....

...and a very refreshing beer :chef:

When I first visited Arizona, all the hotels had large pitchers of water for guests to grab a cup of water from. The two main additives to the ice water pitchers were either cucumber/mint or watermelon/lime (sometimes you'd see a pitcher with lemon or oranges sliced up in it). At first I was like, "Ewe, watermelon & lime (or cucumber/mint)!" But, when I tried it, I was amazed at how refreshing it tasted.

The beer in the picture has barely a hint of watermelon taste to it. It tastes much more like a very light ale. So it's not nearly as fruity as you imagine it to be.

But, if you like, I'll soak my feet in some Shiner Bock, rebottle it and send it your way....

Cucumber water is nice. Especially with vodka and St Germaine in it! BTW, I don't like shiner bock, it is my wife's beer and I'm gonna tell her what you said! :gone:

On the topic of watermelon here's mine:

Pretty much any of the Ballast Point beers are amazing and they pack a strong punch. The watermelon Dorado is 10% and surprisingly refreshing.

My favorite beer to date is Ballast Point's Victory at Sea but it isn't a summer beer. It's a coffee Stout and is pretty much incredible if you're into the very dark beers.

Really pooldv, you are not right:eek:

Agreed, Danny's not right.

Also agree that Shock Top has some good beers. Their Summer Shandy is good. Don't really like their pretzel beer though....

With the Shock Top, be sure to swirl the last inch or two in the bottle to get all the settled fine particles. That's where all the healthy vitamins go in a wheat beer.

I'm all over this one...

Ok meatloafers. Here is how to let your meatloaf.

2lbs ground beef
1lb breakfast or Italian sausage
1 lb ground pork
1/2lb Shredded jack/cheddar cheese
3 eggs
Your favorite spices
I like
Garlic
Onion
Tony Chachare
Stubbs beef rub
Stubbs BBQ rub
8 or 10 chunks of cheddar or jack stuck in the middle
Smoke it with pecan at 275-300 to 160 internal temp
Boom, best meatloaf you ever had, yes that is cheese oozing out
