I need to replace an old valve that has stuck in place. I have a 3 way Jandy valve that I can use. 99% of the time all three pipes will be in the open position. I occasionally will shut the skimmer valve to prime the pump but that isn’t very often during the season with my pump running 24/7.

My question is: would it be ok to cut the plastic stops off of the Jandy valve to allow for shutting down one pipe at a time?

Luke,

I think that you can just unscrew the knob and lift the handle up a little and you can put the valve in any position you want.

Thanks,

Jim R.
I agree Jim, I was just trying to not have to use the screw just in case I needed to turn it off real quick. I’ve never had to turn it off real quick in the last 26 years so I doubt I will really need to worry about it in the future. Thanks for the quick reply Jim.

The purpose of the stops is to keep you from dead heading the pump and blocking all water flow.

You can set the cover so you can move the valve between A and B.

If yiu want to block X then lossen the handle screw and lift the handle above the stop.

When I blow the lines for closing how can I blow a and b and still shut them down? I don’t usually blow both at the same time I blow the skimmer and close it off and then blow the main drain.

You can’t with a 3-way.

Yiou can blow them both out and airlock at the red X.

If you want to blow each out individually then you need a valve on each line.

That’s what i was afraid of. Thanks.
Put a 2-way on the Main Drain then you can airlock the skimmer with the 3-way.

For the cost of one more diverter I would make it easy to blow out.
