Anyone ever run across this issue ? I can’t get this to stop leaking. I paid over 60 bucks for the kit just to get the $2 gasket.l, still drips. Got it to slow down but can’t get it to stop.

Tips?

Thanks Chris

Did you put Pool Lube on the gasket? Pool Lube - Further Reading

Is the gasket laying flat?

Is everything spotless clean where the gasket lies?

Does the gasket have any knicks or imperfections?

Did you over tighten the screws and deform the gasket?

Open it up, clean it up, check the gasket, lube the gasket, reassemble, and see how it works.

Why did you need to replace the gasket to begin with? Did the heater overheat and warp the manifold?

Hi. Tried multiple times to take cover off and on again. I have not lubed the gasket , I can try that. Replaced in the first place because it was leaking and the original gasket showed ware and potentially pinched when initially installed.

Thanks

Just a word of advice - any rubber gasket you use should always have silicone lube applied unless expressly forbidden by the manufacturer. Rubber gaskets are imperfect and there will always be a difference in size and shape between the groove they sit in and the gaskets dimensions. Lube is necessary to make up those imperceptible differences and to create a watertight seal. Lube also adds a layer of material that protects the rubber from damage by water and chemicals.

Unless otherwise indicated, 100% silicone lube should be used in pool applications.

Original out of place and pinched could have warped cover. Take it off and check with a straight edge or face down on flat surface and see if piece of paper will slide under a corner or edge.

Consider looking for cracks with a magnifier. Flex plastic parts in many directions to see if anything opens up. For metal, try coloring surfaces with a Sharpie. Gently polish off the ink with ~2000 grit paper. Remaining fine lines are suspect.

Yeah. I’m thinking that may be the issue now. Lub the gasket did not help. It’s right at the lower screw where two pieces of plastic come together. Now how to fix …

I would continue to monitor it even when it’s running. If the manifold overheated from boiling water due to low flow, that could have warped the plastic cover. Make sure the heater is operating proper and that the thermal regulator is working properly.
