Its a fair price and I like that it's concrete walls. When I priced out steel walls in 2021, it was no savings to use a wall that would eventually rust.

The prices here vary as much as anything else between different companies. The bigger guys have more overhead and generally charge accordingly.

Get several quotes to help you decide the price versus quality product debate that plagues us all.

I used Modern Comfort for my build on LI 11 years ago. They were great! When i left LI last year, the pool was still in great shape. ZERO issues. My sister used them 2 years ago, with great results too. Definitely give them a call.

I would request the model numbers for the vacuum set, the filter, the pump, the SWG, the lights, the heat pump and the dolphin. When you get the quoted updated with these model numbers, post that...

Is there a reason you are getting a vacuum and a dolphin?

Where in NY? Upstate is completely different than downstate or Long Island. Price varies a lot by region and county.

Do you have only electric or is natural gas available? Seems like an awfully high price differential ($7k) for a heat pump …

Seems they only cover $300 for plans and permits. You might check with your local building office to see if that’s reasonable otherwise you have to pay more than the quoted price.

Equipment list is all generic comments. You need to know if they install variable speed pumps as you want a VSP to save on utility costs.

What filter type - sand, diatomaceous earth (DE), or cartridge filter? There are pros and cons to all of them and there is no “right” filter to install.

What designs are you considering? Freeform? Linear/geometric?

Also seems like any flat works/concrete is a separate job, ie Smith Brothers. You’ll need to check them out and see if they are reputable.

Also - you need to get at least three quotes from reputable pool builders in your area. That’s the only way to know if the prices you are seeing are reasonable. Look for builders that have been in business at least ten years or more. There plenty of charlatans out there that setup shop and promise you the moon and the stars on budget-prices and then leave you very disappointed if not high and dry with a half-finished pool.

Everyone had switched to concrete the 2nd time and when I priced out a DIY steel kit, it wasn't any significant savings so I ended up with another concrete pool.

The devil is in the details and you can add $25k worth of stuff to any pool, but this one is smaller than the advertised package you saw and has inferior walls.

Steel will rust and it's a matter of when, not if. An undiagnosed leak on year 12 may destroy it before year 20, making the when happen sooner. A well lived steel pool may still be your kids problem if they plan on living in the family home one day down the road. Or you know you are moving to Fl in 15 years and none of it will be you or your kids problem. Like I said, just food for thought when considering the longevity of steel VS concrete.

Personally I would want a significant savings in order to go with steel. $1500 for or less for example is a rounding error and not worth the risks IMO if i planned on keeping the house.

I would go with a gas heater for the pool. LI has never been known for sane utility rates … speaking as an ex-pat NY’er that exited the insanity of east coast life nearly 20 years ago. Growing up on LI, my parents didn’t complain about many things but the one constant was the annual groaning over LIPA and fuel oil bills.

We recommend Cartridge filters...however your choice Hayward makes both...Pump is Variable Speed... can get you model numbers on products when I'm back in my office or if you'd like you can visit showroom to see products..

Probably too small for a slide or dive.

All slides and dives have defined "Envelopes" that are required for the installation.

Review the installation instructions for the equipment to see the required envelope.
