50 lb = 0.45 cubic feet, so 12 cubic feet = 1,333 lbs. (27 (50 lb) bags).

If Shotcrete is going to be used the area needs to be cut deep enough so no feathering is done on all the edges.
This would be my first choice.

Filling with plaster only has its own drawbacks when the depths get too deep.
