Hi All! Furniture shopping for my backyard....we are about a month out, so trying to order some pieces. For the chaise lounge chairs, should I get wicker with no cushions, mesh ones with an aluminum base (no cushions) or a nice comfy cushion one? What advice do y'all have?!

We are in Houston, so I am assuming the mesh ones are the best with the hot humid summers as well as the summer rains. Figured the cushions will get wet and it will be a pain to keep dry during the summer. Thoughts?! I am so confused and am tired of researching on the internet. hahah

For the Umbrellas - will a standard 1.5" diameter fit into those umbrella sleeves the PB puts in the deck? Will they fly away? Obviously, I am one clueless individual.

Thanks!!

Make sure any cushions you buy are made of Sunbrella fabric. This stuff comes in wonderful colors and patterns and some how it doesn't fade in the hot sun. I waterproof my cushions with 3M Waterproofing Spray. I found good sunbrella umbrellas locally at a wicker and pool furniture type shop.

I couldn't afford to just buy anything and everything I saw at once for furniture. I have a screened in porch, a deck and a pool deck in need of furniture so I took my time and found I liked Trex furniture. So I bought a couple of pieces a year to expand our holdings. I bought some large significant wicker, with sunbrella cushions for the screened in porch. I have areas of the deck with a Trex bar table and chairs, on an upper ledge some wrought iron chairs, and on the pool deck an assortment of adirondacks, lounges, 2 separate tables and chairs and a few side tables by Trex. Things get moved around at times.

Don't rush in... look around. Pay attention to what's offered around town. Decide what you like.
Costco has big sets for sale online. You'll get sale prices towards the middle and end of summer...

Thank you! I am definitely taking my time (I did purchase my covered patio furniture already!). I'll definitely use that spray on the cushions. Didn't even know it existed!

Good point on things moving around...I'll keep an eye on the online sales at Costco and other places. I noticed last year sales were mid summer, fall and then winter...

Outdoor furniture is SO expensive! I really wanted rattan chaise lounges but the ones I like are way out of our budget or sold out. I decided I’m going to get the white plastic ones like they have at hotels. I like the look. I found some at Ace that aren’t too expensive. I figured those would be good for this year and we can see how we actually use them. Then when these wear out I can replace them with something else that fits our needs best and hopefully have more money to do it.

I ended up buying sling chaise chairs from Wayfair. I agree furniture is so so expensive! I also opted out to wait on buying chairs around the fire pit. We won't be sitting around the fire until maybe October in Houston?! No need for chairs. Figured, I can start saving (Again) since I blew through my budget already with furniture for the covered patio.
