Been contemplating pulling the trigger on a robotic cleaner. Local pool store recommended the Liberty 200 which Maytronics is currently offer a $200 rebate which I found appealing. Don’t usually do this but he was running low on that model so I purchased it without doing any research.
After doing some research there was several cons. One I didn’t realize was it didn’t do waterline which was a game changer to me along with a few other things. One big thing that stuck out on battery vs electric was the suction difference. Saw several YouTube videos bragging up the Sigma. Yes it’s definitely pricey but are these legit or biased reviews? It’s seems Maytronics has it together when it comes to robotic cleaners. Right or wrong?
So with all that being said what’s others used that are efficient and don’t break the bank?
I might add I do have an above ground pool. Will these cleaners work in them with a ladder. First response I got from the dealer is it should! Not a huge confidence booster considering the amount of dough it takes to purchase one of these things. Not to hung on a certain price if I know I’m getting something that will do the job correctly.

"Best" obviously is subjective. I've heard the least amount of complaints for Polaris. I love mine. It does waterline.
"Best" is what so many people are searching for instead of "most appropriate", especially when it comes to filters and cleaners.
And especially with robot cleaners these days, the jury is still out. Profits seem to have trumped quality in recent years. Veteran pool pros can't even make a strong recommendation anymore.
That's why TFP posts are such a good source, providing input for us. Problem is that evidently there is frenzied pressure to constantly introduce a new model every 3 days (it seems). Maytronics alone (Dolphin mfr.) has put over 40 models of cleaners out there.
From early 1970's through early 1990's if you had a pool cleaner, it was likely one of 6 models, industry wide.
Sorry for the rant! But after 30 years in the business, I do not understand why most everything has become so much more complicated instead of getting simpler. Probably because it was all pretty simple to begin with.
