Battling Low PH

Looking for assistance. I have a 20x40 40k gallon chlorine pool and newly refinished with Ecofinish.I’m constantly battling low PH and having to raise it daily with Soda Ash. I’m using 8 trichlor tabs until they are dissolved which is about every 4 days. According to Pool Math these tabs lower the PH by 1 so I’m assuming they are causing the low PH.

Any suggestions on how else i should chlorinate or a better way to raise PH or if this is normal with a chlorine pool using tabs? I know i may end up having a CYA issue as well by adding these tabs.

I know i can add liquid chlorine but we are in the south so we’d have to add a crazy amount daily.

Should I just continue doing what I’m doing and adding soda ash to raise PH almost daily. Or maybe I should I overshoot the soda ash to have PH closer to 8 and let it come down to ideal range that way?

Numbers from today: (this is with adding Soda Ash daily to raise PH to 7.4)
PH-6.8
FC-4.0
CH-140
CYA -65
TA-100

But I would need to add like a gallon a day in the southern heat?
Depends on your pool size and water quality. Your CYA is good enough already, so if you are loosing FC too quickly, it may be time to run an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test to make sure organics isn't the root cause of your FC loss in a 24 hr period. Down here in South Texas when I was non-salt I ran my CYA in the 60-70 range and added 1/2 gallon of 10% each evening (2.5 ppm) for my ~ 18K pool.

LC or SWCG are the only two viable long term chlorination methods. With a 40k pool, I'd highly suggest getting a SWCG.

How are you testing? Fill out your signature when able.

What's the CH and TA of your fill water. I'd bump up your CH to ~200.

Yes. That's why a SWCG would be a good purchase for you.
