We are in the process of finalizing quotes for our new pool build with inground spa. One builder says knobs are no longer necessary which creates a cleaner look on the spa beam in my opinion. Other says you have to have them. I tried searching for this in the forum, but not sure I am using the right terms. Thank you for your help! Picture attached for reference showing knobs on beam - not actual project.

There are 2 ways to plumb a spa. One way is with air controls knobs. That uses venturi action to pull air through the control knobs. The control knobs are plumbed to the spa jets with pvc. The amount of air introduced through the jets is controlled by opening or closing the air control knobs. The second way of introducing air into the spa jets is to have a dedicated air blower. In that case the air blower is plumbed directly to the spa jets. When it's on you have air forced through the spa jets. That doesn't require air control knobs.

There's a new product that I am going to use it's called an "AirPort".

They look like an Autofill canister and the units go in the deck near the Spa but air intake is muffled. I'm trying to avoid more electrical devices, such as blowers, because I am nearly at my 200A (80%) max power.

Thaks for the responses. I asked my potential PB for more info - this is the response:

"we actually don't use the blowers, and we use the 3 HP IntelliFlo Pump instead... The automation allows you to increase or decrease the pressure from the spa jets, and we do have to use the 2 small air lines in the spa beam... I've attached a picture of those here, and they are just about ½ inch or so... We use 2 air lines, one for each side of 3 jets, versus 6 air lines, one for each jet, and do try to keep them as flush as possible"

I know I am probably make a mountain out of a molehill, but now that I know the knobs may not be required, I am having a hard time getting past this. OCD I guess :)
