Aiper Scuba S1 Review

I noticed my charging plug got pretty hot last night and I only had it plugged in for 2.5 hours. Not sure what it would feel like if you left it plugged in all night. Once it’s fully charged, I’m assuming it would power down so the charger wouldn’t be generating any more heat.
Anyway, good luck with your decision. The beauty about the warranty, is it gets you a replacement. The bad news is that you need to use it after just 1 month.
I'm checking to see if the warranty starts over with the new one. Mine just stopped charging. I'll probably get the replacement. It worked well and I could run the Betta at the same time or do laps while it ran on the floor.

I can't decide, money back or replacement? It cleaned really well.
They gave me my money back and didn't require I send it back if I deleted my negative Amazon review which was worth the convenience of not having to find a shipping box, packing it and dropping it off at UPS.

I am going to sit tight for a couple more weeks to see if they actually took my recent feedback seriously and will roll out another firmware update.

I still have all the original boxes so that's easy, but maybe it's worth getting a refund and wait for updates. It worked well though, I don't really have any other complaints except the not charging and getting hot.

The Aiper S1 Scuba is on sale on Amazon right now for $788 Canadian which is about US$560. Is that a good deal? Are most that have bought the unit happy with its performance?

I have had a dolphin S300 for six years that cost me $1300 Canadian. It is starting to be less effective at picking up debris and I have to run it multiple times.

Can you run the Aiper Scuba with a solar blanket covering the pool?

And is it worth getting the Seagull over the Scuba?

I ran the S-1 last night under the solar cover, but in floor mode only. In wall mode, I’d be concerned when it did the tile line what the roller brushes would do to edges of the cover.

I can probably save you a few hundred dollars.
1) Buy from aiper.com where the price is currently $529.99 USD
2) add the coupon code ASAP15 for an additional 10% off
3) If you order from their website, they don't appear to charge any sales tax at all. If that's true, that's another 13% off.
Total all in price about $650 CAD.
Of course, if something goes wrong, you have to deal with Aiper directly rather than Amazon. But based on the savings, it appears to be worth it.

I wouldn't recommend the S1 until they get the programming fixed, unless your pool is one depth.

My seagull pro died one day past the amazon return window but they gave me an exception. I'm now shopping the S1, Polaris Freedom, or Dolphin Liberty. It seems like the S1 will have the same potential to Crud out early. I loved the way the Seagull Pro cleaned. It was great, it got all the leaves and my flagstone sand. Just don't know if I can roll the dice on it

I think we need to set some parameters, my pool is not one depth and it does great. I would highly recommend it but like all products, they have their specific application or boundaries.

I think the issue most have had are with very steep inclines going to 7 or 8ft then trying to climb back out there. Mine works well with 3.5ft to 4ft to 4.5ft etc to 6ft then back out.

My pool is only 6 1/2' deep, going from 3.5' so not exactly a steep incline. There should be NO reason why a pool cleaner robot should have difficulty navigating my pool.

This should be an easily solvable issue so I'm optimistic Team Aiper will figure it out.

My pool goes from 3ft to 9ft and the Pro doesn't have any issues. It seemed to during the first couple runs, but after that, no issues.

If only it would charge, I'd be all set.

Mine charges fine also but it’s only been 6 weeks. I noticed the charging plug was pretty hot the last time I charged it up. Wrote to Aiper and they said it’s normal for it to heat up if I’m charging it for 3 hours. Also, make sure the plug and the S-1 aren’t in direct sunlight while charging.

I had posted earlier that my plug got hot during charging. Now that I have done it several times, it does still get hot however it does cool down when in maintenance mode.

So, I decided to pick up the S1. Was delivered today. Charged it and put it in the pool on floor only mode. Did the shallow end great. It didn’t have a problem climbing the incline from the deep end to the shallow end, but what I did notice was that when it was crossing the incline, it would repeat the same path over and over until I moved it. Seemed to slide during its turning sequence and aligned back on the same path. I moved it a couple feet and it kept trucking. Overall, it did a better job than I would’ve with the pole and hose. I really just wanted something for the bottom.

Anyone figure out where in the pool is the best place to drop her in? I started in the shallow end this first time, but wondering if that has any impact.

Yes that is the problem, the side to side S or N pattern.

I've run my twice over the last week in wall and floor mode and while I didn't watch it the entire 3+ hours it ran, I found it both time right where I always find it, stuck 3/4 way up the incline where I am sure it went over the same area 2 dozen times.

At this point I'm getting concerned it'll start wearing down my PebbleTec plaster.

But is this any different than a Dolphin? Or are the brushes different? Initially I didn't put my Dolphin in when the pool was covered but after seeing people on TFP saying that it wasn't an issue I started to put it in. They only issue I have is that there were a few long strings where the seams of the cover and sewn together. Those got pulled into the brushes. But when I trimmed them back it was good.

So what I noticed today while running the bot in floor only mode is that while running in it's N pattern side to side, is that it would hit the wall curve, go up a little, then stop and drop back down to start it's turn around.

The problem seems to be while doing this on the incline, when the robot hits the wall curve and goes up slightly, because of the incline and the curvature on the wall, that when the robot goes up the wall slightly is when it starts it's lean down the incline. And when it backs down at that point it is actually lower on the incline, which puts it lower than the previous track, but when it turns around and advances slightly it puts it back on the same previous track, hence it never gets beyond this point. Then it's wash rinse repeat...

The problem in my view is how far up the curved wall it is allowed to advance. It probably works better in a pool with more square angled walls?

Mine is doing the same thing as you described. When moving across the width of the pool across the incline, it "slides" or "drifts" towards the deep end and never really maintains a true side-to-side path. My pool is relatively small, however, so it does end up covering the missed areas when it gets into a different pattern going across the length of the pool.

I'm curious to hear what others are experiencing and if Aiper is providing any response to this issue.
This is what I shared with their support without much feedback and the only real reason I returned it. It was great except that it would get stuck slipping down the slope.

It is disappointing because it is a good looking bot, well designed and when it works it seems to work pretty darn good and it's priced right with all of the discounts.

In my unprofessional opinion it seems like a competent programmer that has reviewed/analyzed customer feedback could solve this pretty quickly.

I sent Aiper a follow up note today to check on the status of another firmware update. But maybe they'll ignore me now that they refunded my money.
