How do I cool my very warm pool during the summer?

I have a 10,000 square foot pool and live in Phoenix. The pool is very warm. I do not want to pay $1000s of dollars for a machine to cool it. On Amazon there are pool fountains for under $50 and the reviews say they really work. Do they? If they do are there any negative side effects? Any suggestions you have to reduce the temperature, without costing me a lot of money, will be greatly appreciated. Doug -

I've been happy with these. They keep my pool enjoyable (84-88 is my sweet spot), when neighbors without them report their pools in the low 90's and feeling like bath water.

It works via evaporative cooling, so be prepared to add more water. It also aerates your pool so I have to add acid 1-2 times a week which is much more often than usual for me.

I have the Arctic Rain ones as well. If you have more than a couple returns, you may need to run your pump at a pretty high speed to get a good flow through them. I have 7 returns and need to run around 3000rpm. any lower and it is more like a simple fountain and doesn't do much cooling.

I guess your pool builder didn't include an 3/4" aerator in the side of your pool coping? That's what I use but the filter has to be on high for it to work so we get 4 hours of aeration overnight until the pump switches to low speed. It works pretty well if you swim in the morning. We have to use umbrellas starting in the afternoon if we plan on swimming later in the day.
