[UPDATE] When even the "Experts" don't listen to their own advice ...

UV lasers get attenuated too much. A Q-switched frequency doubled Nd:YAG laser operating at 532nm (green) with a 12ns pulse width will easily nail a wasp at 100ft with enough incident energy to vaporize it.

… or so I’ve been told 😏

Also good for snakes, scorpions, lizards, squirrels etc.

At night, he has night vision goggles that have combined thermal and amplified light that are only available to special forces like the Navy Seals.

We only speak “the Queen’s English” here … translation?

Yes, I noticed your careful choice of language. We Aussies are a weird mob. We do like an additional public holiday to celebrate the Queen/King. But speak like the Queen? Nah.

Better get the fridge filled for the coming long weekend...

Ahh, the eraser in the basket is a good one. Never gets old. @JamesW and @JoyfulNoise give great advice, they know their stuff. But in threads they started themselves about their various adventures it's important to put your sarcasm radar on high alert.

The rule is quite simple: Whatever you see promoted on various FB groups gets generally only repeated here to have a good giggle.

so new guy fell for the banana in the tailpipe. Dang you Balki. Reading about keeping fc at 7ish to keep from having to add chlorine?!!
Is that detrimental to swg? Should that be my target in NC?

SWCG if managed correctly is boring. Your pool will use FC every day. It will change every month or so. Change your production % or pump runtime so that production = demand. Your FC will be steady.

It is not detrimental to the SWG.

Your target FC should be based on your CYA. Link-->FC/CYA Levels

This thread has lots of long time users with many back jokes. I thought you were picking up on the joking and adding other observations. If you have specific questions about your situation, post them up in the appropriate forum and we'll help you with your specifics!

On the contrary. By running a bit higher you make sure that you never drop below minimum, resulting in creeping up FC demand due to algae being just suppressed enough to not explode into a bloom.

By sticking to the higher end of the recommended target range FC/CYA Levels you just have a bit more leeway. By the time you realise that FC demand has increased with summer progressing, you still have enough time to react, rather than panic.

Yes, you could stick to the lower end of the target range, but you have to be more diligent about near daily testing, and you effectively end up micromanaging the pool.

If you have more questions on all of that, just start your own thread and fire away.

Hard to tell in the video but it looks more like a european hornet to me - they love me & taunt me. Its a horrible relationship.
I can go anywhere in the country & one will appear!
I haven’t yet found a solution other than swat & stomp if I have the opportunity. Also, get rid of the body & leave the area because they release pheromones that attract their siblings.
I have tried various traps, meat hanging over a bucket of soapy water, even baiting them with my deodorant thinking maybe that’s why they like me so much. I have tried to follow them to find their nest all over my property to no avail for the last 11 years. They supposedly make a “bee line” for their nests after gathering their food etc.
some people swear that a few drops of dawn will break the surface tension in the pool & cause insects to drown but I have never tried that for fear of never ending bubbles.

I believe @Newdude started the whole #RunChlorineHOT club (or whatever the hashtag is …)
