We opened our pool 5 days ago, cleaned it up (mesh safety cover, so there was a lot of dust/silt to remove), and balanced the water. First time in the spa last night, we realized we had rough plaster. UGH! The roughness is mostly on the horizontal surfaces (benches and steps); not so much on the walls.
Upon opening, FC was 0 and pH was 8.2+ (higher than test could accurately read). After adding muriatic acid & then bleach, here's what the chemistry looked like about 5 hours later:
FC - 3.0
pH - 7.8
TA - 100
CH - 275
CYA - 50
Salt - 2200
As of this morning, these are the numbers:
FC - 5.5
pH - 7.8
TA - 100
CH - 325 ... I'm always a bit unsure of myself with the CH test, but I'm confident it's +/-50 (1-2 drops).
CYA - 80
Salt - 3000
What should I do first to figure out what's happened/happening, not make it worse, fix it, and not repeat the problem? I know that's a loaded set of questions & appreciate any/all advice.
