Hello, A new above-ground pool owner here. Central Wisconsin. A 27-foot round radiant with 2" coping.

What options should I consider in purchasing a winter cover? The Radiant fitted cover. Or a generic or other brand cover?

IIRC, using a non-radiant cover voided the forever warranty. The same for liners (when the time comes)

The radiant pools don’t generally have the wide top rails like regular above ground pools have that keep the little winch cable from allowing the tarp style cover to fall into the pool. The radiant covers have a bead which fits into a “receiver” along the coping ensuring a perfect fit. The only other option I can see is one of those armor kote type covers that hang way down & don’t depend on the lip of the top rails (that is if your pool isn’t buried or doesn’t have a deck around it).
If u have a deck all the way around u could do a tarp style & use water bags like inground pools do.
Ironically, radiant pools doesn’t manufacture their covers or their liners & the warranties for those lie with the manufacturer.
Do u have some pics of your setup?

I see you have a 27 foot pool as well.

The good news for you (sort of) is that if you buy a non-radiant cover, chances are you will have to get a 28'. 27' pools are like the red headed step child of the industry when it comes to winter and solar covers. You find lots of 26' and 28'.

I use a 28' cover on my non-Radiant 27' pool. The extra material costs more, but it also means there is a lot of material to play with. My wire and winch on my cover is about a foot below my top rail. Maybe at times my top rail does prevent it from slipping up, but It is not as if the wire is right up against it at the end of the season. You could always keep some water on top of the cover and use the pool wrap stuff to further secure it.

I do know that if I take all of the water off of my cover (which I do from time to time) in a good wind it really gets going.
