Anyone used them before? Good company to go with? Any other company that might be any less expensive?

I’m looking at looploc aqua extreme 99 in gray. Their price when calling shipped is about $2100. They offer an HPI 99 for about $1300 or so shipped as well and they say it’s the same hardware either way.

Cover is custom, but pool is about 15x38 inside fiberglass to inside fiberglass.

I got my cover from here: Winterizing Products for Home Winterization. I called and ordered over the phone, seemed like to good of a deal and wanted to make sure everything was included. I could have also ordered a custom cover since my stairs are 4 foot wide and not the more common 8 foot. Cost was only a little more, but I was more in a time crunch and did not want to wait. For a 20 x40 with steps it was around $1500 last year, looks like it has gone up a little. For a Merlin or Loop-loc installed it was $4k-$5K i think.

I got the the Block Mesh 99. It seems like a good quality and the material seems as heavy and thick as a Merlin and Loop-Loc (these are made within walking distance of my house) based on the samples from them.

It was pretty easy to install. Planning on where to drill holes and a little bit of crossing my finger when I was in a area where I wasn't exactly sure how deep return lines were (I was pretty sure they were deep enough, but still concerned). Could have done 5 - 6 hours by myself, but took a few days after work.

All the hardware was included and seemed like good quality. The stainless wasn't magnetic (so it should not rust and has not after one season).
  • cover (it's pretty heavy, guessing 50-60 lbs dry, and more wet and awkward to get into the bag)
  • anchors
  • springs
  • lever to get springs on anchors
  • allen key
  • aluminum mandel to set the anchors (this got pretty beat up, most of the anchors needed a good hammering to set them)
  • bag to store cover - plenty big to store the cover, almost to large, but does make it easier to get the cover in)
  • instructions (pretty basic but could have done it without them)
I had all the tools and bits needed already. I only bought a longer hammer drill bit to speed up drilling into the slab under the pavers. The core bit I had was slow going.
I think I had a few more anchors to install.
