Hey all! I just had a deck built for my above ground pool. Now I need to secure my ladder.
I have an A frame ladder that I've used for years on the deck-less pool, and I merely let it straddle the top railing of the pool (you can see it in my profile pic). Pool-side of the ladder is weighted with stones and it always moved a little, but since the season here in Connecticut is short that was never a big problem.
Now with the deck I've removed the exterior ladder portion of the unit and need to secure the interior to either the deck itself or the pool top railing. I believe the latter is the way to go, since the deck isn't flush with the top of the pool. Is there any reason not to drill into the top railing to secure the ladder?
The picture below shows the set up. I would slide the ladder a couple inches to the left and use the two bolt holes (on the left) to secure the ladder to the pool railing on the left-most indented ring. There's nothing underneath that, just empty space, so I'd secure it with a washer and nut of course. Any reason not to do this? Thanks in advance for any guidance!!
