What size pump for 36,000 gallons?

I think our contractor may have undersized our pump for our pool because it laways seems like it is struggling to pump water. Our pool is 36k gallons and he pump on a 1.5HP pump. We also have an 8’ diamter spa attached.
The skimmer seems to have no flow or barely any and the pool vac wont even climb the walls.

what size pump should we have?

Please advise exactly what you have and a picture of your equipment pad. It matters if the pump is 2 speed, 1 speed or variable speed. Could also be something simple as a valve not open, etc.

Pump size is not based on the gallons in your pool but on the equipment you have and the way it is plumbed.

Your Intelliflo pump is 3 HP at max rpm. It is the best pump you can get other then the SVRS feature. Your Hybrid ETI heater restricts your flow a lot.

What speed do you run the pump?

What is your filter PSI?

When did you last backwash the DE filter?
