Hello TFP peeps! Been a member of this site since 2022 I believe and have always valued the feedback. It’s Spring time and I’m in North Texas. We have had a few dust storms from West Texas blown into our area in the past month or so and I’d like to think that the red looking dirt in my pool is just that…red dirt. I’m really not sure what else it could be but I can brush the heck out of the pool, clean the filter out after a few brushes, and this stuff still returns. Chlorine has been fine at 8+ with CYA or 50-69. All other values are normal. I really don’t think it’s anything else besides red dirt that has continued to blow in but I’m open to other thoughts and would appreciate them greatly.

Got Pollen all over your car windshield? Patio? Could it be pollen like we're dealing with in Georgia??

If in doubt perform an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test -Overnight Chlorine Loss Test

Maybe a bit of pollen for sure but this has been pretty constant since the storms that blew in a few weeks ago from West Texas. I didn't realize the poor quality of the pictures I uploaded until now but it's pretty red. Having lived in West Texas for 7 years before moving back to DFW in 2004, I can attest to the red dirt out there. I just find it odd that it's still blanketing my pool despite brushing it every other day and having cleaned my filter out 2-3 times already since February.

The wind has been crazy for the past few weeks. I was getting the unmistakable red dirt puffs on my tanning ledge and steps. That was a first for me in pool ownership, but I finally got it all up and filtered out a week or so ago.

As a prior poster asked, but to make sure - what, if anything, is showing up on surfaces outside the pool? Dirty table tops, similar accumulations in corners/edges of the surrounding area, etc.? Dirt/dust isn't magnetically attracted to the water. It may appear to accumulate less elsewhere as it can be blown away again after settling out of the air - but there still will be some that stays behind. So, if the surroundings are clean, but the pool isn't - something growing would be pretty high on the suspect list....
