Vacuuming Doesn't Work Hardly Any Suction

Hiya,

This is my first pool it's 24' round and 52" high.

I bought the vacuum hose type vacuum with scrubber from Canadian Tire and the type of filter I have has two inlet hoses to the filter and one hose into the pool.

I connected the vacuum to one of the inlet hose ports and the other is attached to a skimmer with a basket that sits at water level.

It's on filter setting.

I checked to make sure it wasn't air locked (I think it's called) and it still has zero suction pretty well.

The debris from the shock treatment I guess is floating all around and the vacuum does nothing.

I set to recirculate just as a last ditch maybe... And suddenly it has suction. But I read I shouldn't do that on recirculate.... So I have no idea what I'm doing wrong...

Can anyone help?

Welcome to TFP.

The RECIRCULATE setting bypasses your filter and returns anything you vacuum right back into the pool returns.

However the RECIRCULATE setting shows that your filter is dirty and needs to be cleaned and is why you don't have suction to vacuum. your pump cannot push the water through your dirty filter.

What pump and filter do you have?
