Vacuum with two skimmers

I'm new to this pool and need to vacuum the hot tub. When I went to put the hose in the hole under the skimmer I noticed not much suction. The pool has two skimmers and they both feel about the same suction wise.

Do I need to block one off somehow to get more suction out of the other one?

Thanks for any help.

Michael,

Basically.. yes... The suction will always take the easiest path... so it will be easier for the water to flow from the open skimmer then it will to flow through the skimmer with the vacuum hose stuck in it.

If you have individual controls at the equipment pad, then you need to close the open skimmer.. Most likely you will not be able to shut if off all the way without starving the pump for water. I would slowly close the input from the open skimmer until the pump starts starving and then open it back up just a little..

Thanks for posting,

Jim R.

My two skimmers have flaps that will close off the skimmer when vacuuming..I just choose which skimmer I don’t want to use and slide the flap over. A friend of mine uses a tennis ball to close off his second skimmer.
