Hi all! Fairly new to the forums, and I've been searching for info on filters without finding exactly what I want. I have a small AGP with a smaller filter that seems to be struggling to keep my pool circulating fully.

Pool/filter info:
  • Intex 14.75'x7.3'x33" - soft vinyl sides, metal frame
  • Capacity 2,000 gallons
  • Intex 1,000gph cartridge filter
I'm considering upgrading to the 1500 gph filter, even though my current filter should work according to the "how much filter do you need" info I've found online. From what I can tell, that wouldn't require me to buy any adapters (to increase from 1.25" hoses to 1.5"), but it's hard to confirm this from the site descriptions. Does anyone have experience with this? I have a few questions:
  1. Is there a noticeable difference in performance between the 1000 gph and 1500 gph?
  2. Does the 1500 gph actually use the same intake fittings/hoses as the 1000? Or would I need to buy some kind of adapter?
  3. The next size up is a 2500 gph filter. Is that overkill for a 2000 gallon pool?
  4. If I got the 2500 gph filter, I would have to use adapters - would that constrict the power of the filter and make it less effective?
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

When it comes to filtration bigger is better. The only thing to watch out for is matching the filter and pump's flow rates. In your case these are packages that include both so simple plug n play. I would get the biggest I could afford. These pumps/filters all use the same size hose. On a pool this small I do not think you would gain anything in going to 1.5".
