my chemistry showed after 2 months of being gone, no reading(low) on the ph and alkalinity.. so, in adding baking soda to my 4500 gal above ground, i over did it. the ph and alkalinity are now in range, but,,, it has clouded the water and will not seem to dissolve. what can i do to clear up the water?

what does that mean? i asked the question, how do i clear up my water after putting in a bit too much baking soda.? some one replied with a question, to me asking what i use to chorinate my pool water.....

The type of chlorine you use (trichlor tablets, dichlore granules, calcium hypochlorite powders, liquid chlorine, or chlorine made with a salt water generator) all have a different effect on water chemistry. If you use calcium hypochlorite, the changes in pH may cause calcium to cloud the water. Knowing the type of chlorine you use and what your current test results are will help us help you.

hello, i use the standard chorine tabs from costco. when we went on vacation for a month the guy , i think put too many tabs in the float and over chlorinated it. upon checking once i go home the chlorine was about 10 and i could smell it. and the pH and alkalinity were very low, they did not even register on my test tabs. the water was totally clear.. so in order to bring up the ph i believed i poured in more baking soda(for pools) in my attempt to bring up the ph and alk. and yes now my ph and alkilinity are in the acceptable range how ever what looks to be the un dissolved baking soda powder is clouding the pool up? how do i dissolve that excess baking soda... ?
thx

Can you vac to waste ? If not, gently brush to one area and rig up a shop vac to the vac hose.

trying to avoid al that work..
It’s half a dozen or 6. With the pool in range, it’s worth some effort to remove the extras. If that’s too much work, Brush it up and then rebalance the overages.
