Tips/Suggestions for patching the bottom of a pool liner (from nut sedge growth)

In case you didn't see my post in the "Opening the pool", I discussed how last year I had a single spot where a piece of nut sedge grew into my pool liner. I "cut off" the nut sedge and injected roundup into the sand and thus killed it off, also patching the spot where it grew from. Unfortunately, my patch seems to have not done the job and as of the beginning of this year I noticed a large drop in water level from the closing last year. The pic below shows the patch and you can see how it appears to be pulling up/off.



My questions are simple:

1. Anyone have any tips/tricks for patching that spot/bottom of the pool liner?
2. Is this a good pool patch kit instead to get? Amazon.com

The original patch that I got was basically from Walmart and I believe it was probably cheap and just not good.... I just need something high quality that will last. If you have any suggestions on what patch to get or how to fix this please let me know!

Cut your patch round, not with sharp corners. The corners are where things begin to pull up.

Get something heavy that sinks that has a flat or even better slightly rounded bottom to sit on the patch while it cures. You want the weight to push on all of the patch.

Outside of the water, coat the patch with cement, and then fold it in half. Then dive down, unfold it, apply it and push it into place, then put your weight on it.
It helps if you have a helper to keep you under the water until you are done.

The patch kit you showed will work just fine. Do exactly as @phonedave suggested. Be liberal with the cement.

Thanks everyone!!! I ordered the kit so fingers crossed it'll work. I have my wife to help with applying the patch, but I'm going to look for something heavy and safe to hold the patch in place.

To be clear, when you fold it in half, the cement is on the inside, that protects it from washing off. Then when you get into the water and into position, you unfold it and stick it in place.

Also, double patch it. Apply one patch, then a slightly larger patch on top.
