I'm currently looking to replace my 29 yr old Pentair TR100 sand filter as the top bulkhead has started with a minor leak. I want to stick with the sand filter as I've had great luck with it and maintenance is minimal and easy to backwash. Here are the local prices for the following equipment:

Pentair Triton II Side Mount Filter (No Valve) TR100
$1379

Pentair 2" PVC Push-Pull Valve Kit 263064
$112

Silica Sand New cement slab for equipment
$150 $100
I was considering doing work myself and several pool companies quoted me $2350 installed. Is this in the ballpark of being reasonable? Thx Dave

Gives you the ability to backwash, pump to waste, close the pump and recirculate.

May be worth it may not. I wouldn't put a push pull on a sand filter. Pump to waste helps when you want to lower the pool water. Closing the pump and recirculate can also be handy in other situations.
