This just happened

I knew I had a leak and I saw a little root poking through the grout. That was months ago. Today the worst happened....I cleared out most of the roots before I took this photo. The question is can this be fixed easily? Anyone have any insight? My instincts tell me to dig where it entered the pool and kill everything. Can the leak be fixed and just put the tile back up?

it's hard to see what the picture is portraying. If you have roots that have poked through the tile line, you need to go all the way back to the main root and terminate it there, then put in a root barrier.

if this is an evasive problem, you might need to remove the tree. I am a real tree lover too, but you have to pick your priorities. Also, cut roots that are not close to the trunk will continue to grow back w new shoots. Only termination at the flare-roots can kill all the roots from the trunk outward, but then you can incur tree instability esp with lots of rain and high winds...also, if the roots you terminated are 2-3+ inches in diameter, when they decompose [this takes yrs], you can have soil collapse.

good luck

Yeah. Roots. Popped the tiles off... You make it sound so complicated....I have been an oak about 15 ft away. I also have over grown philodendron around the whole deck

Also, what do you mean by a root barrier?
