My name is Phil. I am a 67 year old Englishman retired and living the dream in the middle of Thailand. My partner and I have built our house right next to our palm oil plantation and we have everything we need and most of what we want! Last year, around March - Jun the temperatures reached 45C in the daytime and not much lower at night, so I planned to get an Intex above ground pool to get in out of the heat. It is only 3m x 2m x .75m (4000 Litres) but the grand kids love it. And of course I get to cool off every day.

I have only had it for a few days, and am just learning about the chemical balancing acts I need to perform, and I am waiting for some Soda Ash, Baking Soda, Chlorine etc to arrive. It reminds my of when I used to run a salt-water aquarium back in England a few years ago, but at least now I don't have to produce my own reverse-osmosis filtered water!

No doubt I am going to have trials and tribulations and I hope I can come to rely on the good people of this forum to point me in the right direction when things go awry!

Cheers!

I am a little puzzled by what's going on with my little pool, regarding testing and water quality.
I have a pH meter which I calibrated using liquid buffer solutions.
I have test strip which measure six different qualities.
But the pH readings between the strip and the meter vary wildly and I am not sure what to do. Which do I "trust"? And going by the readings on the strip, what should I be doing next..? Thanks in advance!

Oh - and is this the correct place to post these questions?

To be honest the test strips are pure garbage and toss it into the nearest trash can. The validity of the digital tester as per Amazon is rated accurate but that's with only 18 feedback. Best would be a kit similar to
Test Kits Compared these but I don't know what's available to you where you are located.
