Sylvania 250W LED bulb

Has anyone tried a Sylvania 250W LED for a cheap LED conversion? The pool light housing is a R-40 and currently has a 500W halogen. The Sylvania is a PAR38, but I don't see why it wouldn't work if you were OK with some Lumen drop. Anyone try this yet or think it wouldn't work? Link below. Thanks.

Hi Kaminski54,

The base on that bulb should work as it is a E-27 thread in base which should be comparable to your current base. The big difference will be the diameter of the bulb as the PAR38 bulb is 4-3/4" in diameter where normally for a pool light you will use a PAR56 bulb which is a 7" diameter bulb. This bulb should work but it will not be as bright as your current bulb because it is quite a bit smaller and has a lower lument rating, but it is worth giving it a shot. If you wanted to go with a mid range LED in the $150 range rather then the $400 range then you could try the PureLine PureColors LED Color Changing 120V PAR56 Bulb.
