Is the voltage selector correct?

Is the hose swivel underwater?

You should put a valve on the output to control the flow.

Voltage is correct.

Hose swivel is not under water. I am connecting directly to the suction side of the pump. Now that you mention it…I bet air is leaking through the hose swivel. Should I be using a different set up or different hose? See pic for how I currently have it set up

What type of valve do you suggest? Like a normal ball valve?

One side of the hose has a swivel and the other side does not swivel.

Use the non-swivel side above water.

Any 1.5" valve like a ball valve or gate valve.

Ok I’ll give that a try.

Do I need to be using the strainer basket in the pump if I am dumping to sewer (which is where the county wants it)? There is a lot of debris

You need the basket.

Without the basket, the impeller will get clogged very quickly.

If you do not empty the basket often enough, the basket will crack due to the suction.

Without a valve on the discharge, the suction will be too high and the vacuum head will stick to the bottom of the pool.

You will probably need to close the valve about 90%.

This also reduces the amount of water loss you will have.

Do not vacuum over the main drain because you might pop open the hydrostatic relief valve.

You should get fiber reinforced vinyl discharge for the waste instead of a vacuum hose.

Vacuum hose is designed for vacuum and not pressure.

Get the water to the street and do not dump it in your yard.

Ordered a valve that I will attach on the discharge side as well.
