Spa Blower Turns on and Pentair EasyTouch frozen after power outage

I've noticed twice this week that after a power outage the Spa blower turns on when the power comes back. (Had two storms)

I go to the easy touch panel which is frozen and shows three 3 circuits running but they are not on. The air blower however is on and doesn't show that circuit being engaged.

I can clear / reset the Pentair EasyTouch by turning the breaker on and off at the house panel. Everything works then as it should.

The photo is what I saw both times this week after the power came back on. Both ng on LCD and those three lights lit + blower on

Update 1/17: I turned the break off to the Pentair to check circuit board (about 10 minutes off) ...flipped breaker back on and got the blank screen and 3 lights again. Hitting the reset button turns it back on and resets to normal use.

21,

Try the 'reset' button below the aux 6 and 7 buttons.. Not sure if doing the power on/off is the same, but worth a try..

Are any of the small circuit breakers, in the upper right of your cabinet popped?

Something else worth testing is your AC input to the ET... Use a voltmeter and measure BETWEEN the L1 and L2 inputs and make sure you have 240 volts.. Do not measure L1 to ground then L2 to ground, as this can give you a false reading..

Let's see what Tom has to say... Calling @ogdento

Thanks,

Jim R.

The display looks blank. If you have nothing on the display and buttons lit, then the PCB glitched from the power cycle.

As Jim suggested, try the Reset button.

Check to see if the relay is stuck.

Also, possibly a bad relay driver.

That's what's happened both times the power went out this week. Wouldnt the circuit breaker for the panel be the same thing as hitting reset?

I guess I'm trying to figure out why the blower started as well.

Whichever works for you. If the panel operates properly after a reset or reboot then the relays and drivers are probably OK.

The circuits got scrambled when the panel did not do a complete reset.

What concerns me is this is the second time in a row that it happened this week when we lost power. Both times the bubblers came on in the spa.

If I'm away and this happens, I may not catch it for a few days. Also, if the panel gets scrambled and doesn't reset, I'm assuming my filter pump would go on automatically.
I wonder if there's a way to fix this somehow or prevent the bubbler from at least going on if it happens again.,

Can you show the relays?

I've seen this before... your board doesn't appear to be booting properly. There are a few things that can cause it, but check the voltages Jim suggested and the relay drivers James mentioned. Also, check to make sure there's 12-15 volts dc on the comm port red/black terminals.

If the above voltage and driver tests check out, the board may have an issue with one of its chips... Your lcd is faintly illuminating two rows, which is the default for these displays before they are initialized, suggesting that the board isn't able to start up. There's a little 3-pin chip (under the LCD of course, Grrr!!) that is responsible for making sure the board resets properly on power up... I've had a dozen or so boards where this chip has failed and they will not boot on power up but I think a couple would start after a reset (the rest wouldn't start at all). The board manufacturer swapped parts at some point and all the failures I've seen are on newer boards using the newer chip I don't have the part number handy but I bought a bunch of the original reset chips that don't seem to fail.
