Solar cover straps disintegrating

Is this "normal" only after 2 seasons? Did I cut the straps too long? I do not dip these straps in the water and my previous ones lasted years. Also, I store the cover in a bag during the offseason.

It's not too surprising. They live in a harsh environment. UV and chlorine take their toll. I assume the straps came from a different maker than the cover - perhaps your roller/spool maker? And I also assume any warranty is up.

Yeah....but the last one lasted forever (e.g., the cover ripped but straps were good). 99% of the time the straps are not touching to water though... send an email to the company and they logged to see if they can replace them.

Some seam cheap and don't last very long. I've had some last for years too. You can buy a roll of the strap material from amazon, just check how wide you need. I think it was 1", but don't trust my memory.

Looks cheap....found the "same" (at least exterior wise) type of strap on strapworks.com (1 Inch Lightweight Polypropylene Teal) but as you suggested, may revert to Amazon for better / sturdy one

Yes, I will buy this one. Just been notified that those straps I purchased are "only covered for 30 days"....(on top of that when they actually sent a new cover with accessories, there were one tab and one self-piercing bolt missing, too). Don't think I am going to buy anything from intheswim.com any more....
