Small plastic pieces in pump strainer

About mid summer I found these small plastic pieces in my pump skimmer basket while doing routine maintenance. I showed them to my local pool supply folks and they had no Idea. Today, I looked into the pump strainer and they were there again. Has anyone ever seen something like this? There is no equipment in the pool (polaris vacuum, etc.)

You have no model numbers in your signature for any of your equipment so we have no clue what you have and what may be shedding the plastic.

Update your signature and post pictures of your equipment pad.

Are you sure that it is plastic?

It looks like maybe the bones of a snake or other small animal.

Thanks, James. Snake Vertebrae looks like what I have. We do have a lot of snakes around here.

See if they dissolve in acid.

Bones are primarily made of calcium phosphate, which can be broken down by acids.

Plastics will usually not be dissolved by acids.
