I actually found this forum searching for a slow clock issue on my Hayward E Command 4 automation system. Seems when the clock slows, the board needs to be replaced, or you need to send it to some guy on Ebay who replaces a bad capacitor with replaceable batteries on the clock circuit. The problem appears be a common one, with expensive options to fix it (full replacement, upgrade to new automation system, send to random dude on ebay and have your pool filter down for a week, etc).

Doing some youtubing this morning, I found this:

The product he links to in that video is an older discontinued model of that product, but it seems the company made a new version.

I've ordered this product, and hope to use this thread to help others and get a little help myself. I've made a couple of assumptions before ordering this:

1) I have somewhere to connect remote wires that will control the pool, and
2) I'm going to be able to tap into a low voltage (5-24v) power supply somewhere on the main board

Now, I know this controller has a wireless spa remote capabilities. The question will be whether that will control the pool functionality within the control board also. I'm assuming I can configure this board to turn on the pump regardless of whether it's pool or spa, so that should be a fairly easy hurdle to jump over. I also would have the ability to control heater on/off settings as well with this thing, and it uses a phone app and connects to google/alexa, which essentially will also turn my controller into a smart controller where I can get timer functionality back

The other problem is I'm not sure this thing will fit inside my current control box somewhere, so I need to weather proof this and run the wiring up into the box through conduit if not.

Who wants to come along for this ride with me?

I actually found a similar post on this website of someone doing something similar. In searching around, it seems the Hayward products require some sort of code from the base station and actual spa remote in order to make this work. The other person on this forum (ill have to see if I can find that thread) used the remote, took it apart, and connected everything to 3 of those units I posted to essentially use his phone as the remote giving wifi. Lots of soldering work, and seems like more work than I'm up for at this point. Unfortunately not as easy as the Pentair solution in the video above.

I think I'm going to try a switchbot on the "filter" button for a makeshift automation in lieu of being able to use the internal clock/timer.

edit - found the old thread - Hayward Goldine DIY Automation
