Silver Travertine Pool Coping Discoloration

I just posted this in another thread where the OP had a 100% identical problem. Apparently that's confusing, seemed to me like it was totally relevant to OP :p, but ok I get it.

Here is the thread with same problem: White Limestone Pool Coping - Discoloration & Proper installation methods?

We are almost finished a new pool build, and as our pool deck was being built, we noticed the Silver Travertine did not match the pool coping. When I grabbed a few extra pieces of the coping from the pallet, it matched perfectly. You can see that before the coping was grouted, it looked ok. So I don't think it's the thinset/mortar bonding the stone to the bond beam, but rather it must be the grout. Unless it slowly soaked up the mortar over a few days. Regardless, obviously something during the install process changed the color of the coping.

The pictures attached showing the coping before it was grouted, one was the same day and the other 2 are about 2 weeks after they were installed, just before grouting.

Any ideas? Pictures attached.

Have you asked what materials are being used with the coping for mortar and grout? Although I don’t think it is grout being used.

Find out what the mortar mix is. I think the stone is absorbing some of the minerals in the mortar.
